Spring in Salem

Spring in Salem feels like the city waking back up after winter. Outdoor dining returns, gardens begin to bloom, and the streets and waterfront are filled with activity. It is also one of the best seasons for travelers looking for smaller crowds while still enjoying Salem’s museums, shops, and historic attractions.

History lovers can begin the season at The House of the Seven Gables, where spring gardens and harbor views create a beautiful setting for touring one of Salem’s most iconic historic homes. October in Salem

October is a season all its own as Salem transforms into one of the most iconic Halloween destinations in the world. Haunted Happenings fills the city with special events every day of the month.

Annual events include the Haunted Happenings Grand Parade to kick off the Halloween Season, the Haunted Happenings Marketplace, costume balls, walking tours, Halloween-themed harbor cruises, and so much more.

Don’t miss the opportunity to learn about the Salem Witch Trials amid the Halloween festivities. Check out The Witch House, the only remaining structure directly tied to the 1692 Salem Witch Trials, and experience the Witch Dungeon Museum, to see a live reenactment of a trial followed by a tour of the dungeon.

To learn about the events of 1692 through a historical presentation and an exhibit that connects this history to other witch hunts, add the Salem Witch Museum to your list. You can also immerse yourself in the history of the Witch Trials by taking on the role of a Puritan journey during Cry Innocent.

Because October is Salem’s busiest season, planning ahead is essential. Hotels book months well in advance, especially on October weekends and later in the month, and you may experience waits for shops and restaurants. Fall in Salem

Once Halloween crowds begin to fade, Salem settles into a quieter, cozier late-fall season. This is an excellent time to enjoy Salem’s museums and historic attractions without long lines. Several favorite attractions for the Halloween crowd remain open on a seasonal basis after Halloween, such as Count Orlok’s Nightmare Gallery, Salem Wax Museum, and the Satanic Temple | Salem Art Gallery.

Late fall is also a great time to take a walking tour of Salem. Tickets are easier to book after October, and most tour companies still run frequently through the end of the month.
