The sun’s shining, the breeze off the harbor is just right, and Salem’s summer energy is in full swing. August brings cool festivals, waterfront adventures, creative workshops, and a little something for every kind of summer soul. From live jazz and cultural celebrations to sweet treats and schooner sails, this month is made for making memories.
🕯️ The Making of a Witch – August 2
Last chance this summer to see The Making of a Witch – a powerful one-act play about Philip English and the Salem witch trials. Performances on August 2nd are followed by a guided tour of historic St. Peter’s Church. Proceeds support preservation and community efforts. (The play returns this fall!)
🍨 Ice Scream Bowl – August 6
A Salem summer classic! Join Salem Main Streets to sample scoops from your favorite North Shore ice cream makers during this fun and flavorful event on the Common. Bring your sweet tooth – and maybe a few extra napkins!
💃 Baile En La Calle – August 8th & September 8th
Get ready to move! This free outdoor evening of salsa, bachata, live music, and community joy comes alive at – Charlotte Forten Park. Kick things off with a dance class at 6PM, then let loose with social dancing under the summer sky.
⚓ Salem Maritime Festival & 3rd Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta – August 9
Celebrate Salem’s seafaring history with hands-on activities, demos, and the always – entertaining regatta featuring boats made entirely out of cardboard. Don’t miss this quirky, quintessentially Salem tradition!
🗺 Fusion Fest – August 10
This vibrant festival honors the many cultures that enrich Salem. Enjoy music, dance, food, crafts, and community art – all on the historic House of the Seven Gables’ lawn overlooking the harbor. See our Blog for more info!
